Good night, Friday

I am SO HAPPY to note that as my day is closing I feel much, much better than I did at its beginning. The worst of those allergy symptoms are mostly gone – at least for now. I do expect sleep to come easily tonight; and I’m planning to dose with the allergy meds prior to putting head to pillow in the hopes that my sleep will be long and restful.

It is interesting that the disorientation and “zombiefied” condition that defined my morning left me in the early afternoon when I spent an hour with my Rosary and Auxilium Christianorum prayers. After this hour I had enough mental clarity that I was able to spend the next hour calmly working on my chess games. And honestly, I was able to “see” those games better than I’ve been seeing them for some time, looking more moves ahead in most of the games more confidently. That was a nice surprise because I felt so rotten earlier that I had considered avoiding the games today.

But I don’t feel rotten now. I’m looking forward to a good night’s sleep tonight and a good day tomorrow. I’ll check back with you in the morning.

Good morning, Friday


After a much longer sleep than normal last night, I’m finding it very difficult to wake up this morning. Wake fully up, that is. I’m blaming the allergy season for that.

Every year for the past several years, at this time of year, late August and early September, the allergy monster invades my body and brings with it the usual nastiness. Vertigo, spotty loss of hearing, headaches, swollen joints and joint pain, general zombiefication, etc.: not things I like, but things I’ve come to accept. Every year. At about this time of year.

Early morning hours are usually the worst for the above mentioned symptoms, before the allergy meds kick in. So it’s important to schedule my projects and chores and the dosing with the meds accordingly. I look at this as just another form of time management. And I take my time management seriously. Got to.
