A Correspondence Chess Win by Resignation

But, why?

I’ll happily take my victories however they come, but this is one that has me scratching my head. If Black had offered me a draw at this point in our highly constipated endgame, I’d have seriously considered accepting that. Instead, he resigned a few days ago, after about two months of play in this server-based correspondence chess game, giving me the win with White by default.
