A tragedy averted, barely.

So there I was, innocently walking home from doing a bit of shopping in the neighborhood, in the hundred-degree-heat of this San Antonio afternoon, beginning to turn left on the sidewalk of the south side of Commerce Street to enter the narrow walkway above the River behind the big Drury hotel, pivoting on my right foot and glancing over my left shoulder when I saw her and heard her at the same time: a big girl wearing blue scrubs, zipping along on a blue-fendered bicycle. “Beeb, beep,” she cutely said in her little girl voice as she flew by me. And then she was gone, barreling along in her bovine splendor on her blue-fendered bicycle.

Man! I was almost mowed down!

Carry-on bags and walking sticks – last night’s dream.

Exciting reading in the second book of Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games Trilogy kept me up a bit later last night than has been my recent norm. But a restful, dream-filled, 8-hour sleep followed, from 22:00 to 06:00.

The longish, multi-scene dream that came last night had me taking a number of trips, some by bus and some by train. A focus of these different trips was determining the most effective combination of carry-on bag and walking stick to be used.
