Under my tree, for me from me, a John Galt coffee cup and the two-DVD set of We the Living, the movie based on the Ayn Rand novel which she said was the closest thing to an autobiography she’d ever write.
But I’m torn. It has generally seemed better to me to read the book first before watching the movie, when encountering a movie based on a book. And Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged is possibly the most fantastic piece of writing I’ve ever read, so she has to rate as one of my favorite authors. But, I really want to watch this movie. I’ve just downloaded the 475-page book to my Kindle, so I guess I’ll start charging through that and try to hold off on the movie until I’ve finished her novel.
