If today was 48 hours long, and if its weather was sunny and warm, and if I had a car and a license to drive it, then I might stand a chance of making good progress on the number of chores that are staring at me from the urgent column of my to-do list. And I might even have time, if that was the case, to take a midday nap to make up for last night’s insomnia.
However, I’ve only got the same 24 hours to work with today that I have every day. And the winter storm predicted to last into tomorrow morning will keep me home – it’ll just be too darned nasty outside to get any yard work done, or to walk the mile and a quarter to the bus stop.
So I’ll look closely at the tasks ahead of me, rank them by priorities, do the best I can with what time is available, and reschedule for the future the work I simply won’t be able to take care of today. And I’ll imagine how nice it would be if I could delegate some of it to other folks. Maybe in the future…
But right now it’s time to start a pot of coffee brewing!
