A Win with White in the King’s Indian West

Thematic chess tournaments are those in which all boards start from a particular assigned position different from the standard opening. In this particular tournament we all play from the King’s Indian West. This tourney is good for me as the King’s Indian is one I try to play often and experience in its variations is good training. Some of my games in this tournament are still ongoing, but here’s one that ended a few days ago.

I really expected Black to resign several moves earlier, but he was a scrappy opponent and our armies fought well against each other through most of the game.

  1. Congrats. My Monday evenings are still spent with Danny, my 8 year-old Grandson, at a local Strabucks, doing a lesson and a game. It’s the highlight of my week. Tonight’s game was a slower, more thoughtful departure from his usual aggressive style.
